Hey Cell, Im writing you this time because you need to hear from me. You're beginning to make progress, and things are improving steadily. I'm happy for you, however, this is just the beginning. You're not where you want to be, and you certainly haven't made the impact on the world that you have set out to make. You're great but, never lose sight of these principles. No matter how well things are going, or how much money you make, or how much praise you receive, you always take heed to this advice.
Stay True To The Good:
Honesty, integrity, discipline, patience, understanding, devotion, confidence. These concepts serve as your guiding light. You have begun to improve your life because you have put positive energy into each of these concepts. Life will test you at times. For as long as you Stay True To The Good, you'll always be a peace with the results.
Trust Your Process:
You've always been a confident young man, Cell. But more important than your confidence in you, is your confidence in your process. Too many before you have lacked patience. Their eagerness to achieve greatness, has resulted in them being added to the long list of washed-up has-beens. Understand that your moment is coming. When it does, you will know it, and it will be a harmonious exchange of energy. There is no such thing as a life that's better than yours, Cell. Know with confidence, that what everyone else is doing, doesn't matter. Their process won't ever be yours, so don't worry about them. Trust your process, and your dreams will come true.
More important than any tangible good, is your legacy. You have ZERO interest in being "The Next Big Trainer". In fact, you see the job title as insulting. I know there is a lot more to you than JUST being a trainer. You're a leader, capable of impacting the world on a large scale. You will go far in this world, Dugg. So as long as you concentrate your forces on creating a legacy. You're not here for a "good time", you're here for a "long time".
The Little Things:
Having conversations with Momma, Pop. Reading Thoreau and Ralph Ellison. Listening to Reasonable Doubt. Spending time with your siblings and nieces and nephews. Running, Coaching, and writing. Reading BBC and listening to Aubrey. Conversations with the ones you love. Praying. All these things give you clarity, and help you be the best you. So much of your time is spent investing into others (teams, clients). Make sure you're making time for yourself, Cell.
You're a very capable, intelligent, and gifted young man. But no one, not a soul, cares about what you accomplished in High School. You see it all the time, people resting on the works of what they accomplished years ago. You need to be focused on progress. Continue to create and challenge yourself. Use the God given talents that you have. Don't ever begin to think "I got this". There is always someone, somewhere, that's better than you at something. Continue to progress and challenge yourself. Embrace new talent, and keep an open mind at all times. Progress is a process, and nothing extraordinary was accomplished alone.
Learn & Give:
Continue to learn and expand your knowledge of the world. You're never too smart or accomplished to gain some new insight. At the same time, continue to give back to the world that you so often look to as a source of knowledge. Whether it's volunteering at #HashtaglunchbagNYC, or volunteering to mentor young men, make sure you're giving back. You're a leader, Cell. Be there for others, like others were there for you.
I'm your biggest fan, Cell. I expect you to do great things in this world. I know we all need a little reminder from time to time, and this is yours Keep doing your thing. I'm proud of you, and I love you always.
